Be Careful What You Ask For

Have you ever read Bible verses that just stopped you in your tracks? Have you read ever read Scripture and thought to yourself, “WHAT did I just see?” Such was the case this morning with my #QT in Isaiah 30.

Isaiah 30:10-11 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

The people purposely want the following: (1) false visions to make them feel better and (2) for God to stop confronting them with their sins. Wow! Did I read that right?

Yes, we both did because the verbs in the Hebrew are in the imperative (forceful/instructional) sense. This is what they really want. Flattering words instead of hard truth. In other words, the “This is my Bible guy” on TV instead of Jonathan Edwards and “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.”

But before we judge the children of Israel – are we that much different than they were? 83 years ago today, Hitler was made Chancellor of Germany because he promised to make the trains run on time. And he did but to all the most evil of locations. The world today is looking for anyone who make the chaos to stop and he will for a time before his real identity as the ultimate enemy of God is revealed.

We must stop looking away from THE TRUTH because our truth creates chaos as Isaiah forecasted in the rest of Isaiah 30. Isaiah also promised that THE TRUTH is waiting for us to call out to him. So let’s call out to HIM and not to politicians and reality TV stars who will only disappoint.

Isaiah 30:19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

Who is THE TRUTH? His name is Messiah Jesus!
