Tonight begins Tisha B’Av, the saddest day on the Jewish calendar as it commemorates the day that both the First and Second Temple were destroyed. There is a vast amount of information available detailing the story of how the 9th of Av has been a particularly difficult day in the history of the Jewish people, including the above mentioned destructions.
One particular video especially bothered me as the argument that is made is that God “was removed from the world” at 1:32 (click here). This is not true as God involved Himself on the most personal of levels through the Incarnational miracle of Jesus. However, the Jewish people still are waiting for God to return. They are waiting because we as Christians and churches have not told them the truth … Jesus is the Messiah and He was their Messiah first.
