Reading the Koran in Context
- For an uneducated man Mohammad certainly wrote an interesting book, the Koran. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, he is also guilty of plagiarism of the Talmud.
- We heard that it was written in the “holy” Koran (Sura 5:32) that whoever saves a person it is as if he saved all of humanity. Sounds nice doesn’t it … however, it was first written down in the Talmud (even though it had been a part of oral tradition for many hundreds of years before) anywhere from 200 to 500 years before the Koran. Let’s compare:
- Sura 5:32 (Koran) — Because of this, we decreed for the Children of Israel that anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. And anyone who spares a life, it shall be as if he spared the lives of all the people. Our messengers went to them with clear proofs and revelations, but most of them, after all this, are still transgressing.
- Sanhedrin 4:8 (37a) — Whoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world.
- Now did you notice that the application for the verse (children of Israel) was not included in the speech today?
- Also I want to share with you the next three verses in the Koran that were also omitted (Sura 5:33-35) — The just retribution for those who fight GOD and His messenger, and commit horrendous crimes, is to be killed, or crucified, or to have their hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, or to be banished from the land. This is to humiliate them in this life, then they suffer a far worse retribution in the Hereafter. Exempted are those who repent before you overcome them. You should know that GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful. O you who believe, you shall reverence GOD and seek the ways and means to Him, and strive in His cause, that you may succeed. Mohammad was also guilty of plagiarizing from the Torah (Genesis 1:26-27) and from the writings of Paul (Galatians 3:28) which states that God created both male and female. (Sura 49:13 — “O men! Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware.”)

Finally the speech utilized a partial variation of the verse from the Koran (“Be conscious of God and always speak the truth”). Let’s look at what the Koran actually says in Sura 9:119 and 123 — “O YOU who have attained to faith! Remain conscious of God, and be among those who are true to their word! …. O you who have attained to faith! Fight against those deniers of the truth who are near you, and let them find you adamant; and know that God is with those who are conscious of Him.”
I must keep my personal opinions close to the vest. I will simply allow for the words of the Koran to speak for themselves.
However, what I can say is that myself personally and Tzedakah Ministries will always hold true to the Word of God … both the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament. These words tell me that the land of Israel belongs to the nation of Israel. These words tell me that only through Messiah Jesus can anyone find redemption and salvation. These words promise that those who follow the truth will be persecuted and reviled (Matthew 24-25). However, I would rather lives these truths even if it costs the wrath of Sura 5:32-35 for God has given me a mission to share Jesus with the Jewish people and therefore also to protect them from harm. What about you? Shalom Aleichem!
